It was raining which made the rush hour traffic even more brutal in these Chicago streets, but I could not let the dreary weather get me down. It was the FIRST Bob Curry Fellowship rehearsal and I had a permeant smile on my face the entire day. The Bob Curry Fellowship has been my dream and your girl was going to get there even if it meant running down the wet street and almost getting ran over by a car! Thankfully the car stopped and there were no casualties but I did stare down the driver of that car and I have been told that my looks can kill…
When I walked into the rehearsal space, I was greeted with warm smiling faces from Julia Morales our fearless Director, Evan Mills our fabulous Creative Consultant, Claudia Wallace The Second City Casting Director, and Mo Phillips-Spotts our Assistant Director.
Then my eyes lit up when I saw my BC 10 casemates. WOW! A seriously talented cast of stand-ups, actors, writers, and improvisors. As we hugged, introduced ourselves, and congratulated one another we instantly knew this was going to be something special. I am so excited to go on this BC 10 journey with this amazing group of individuals.
As the evening progressed we spoke about the vision for our show, expressed what we wanted to get out of the fellowship, and some best practices from BC alumni (Julia, Evan, Mo, and Claudia). Our talk gave me chills because it confirmed again that I was in the right place.
The Second City Training Center even hooked us up with dinner catered by Professor Pizza and a swag bag that included a journal, pen, folder, t-shirt, and tote bag all adorned with The Second City logo. Awww such a nice gift and way to welcome us to the building Second City Training Center!
I left the Bob Curry Fellowship’s first rehearsal in a feeling of bliss, inspiration, and creativity.
And with that my friends I hope to leave you in peace, joy, and best wishes.
