Okay so if you don’t know let me tell ya: The Second City building is huge! There are 7 stages, two of which we will be performing on (ahhh so exciting!), and tons of rooms for rehearsals and classes. We had a private tour lead by a BC alum and you know I had to snap some pics!

There are also some great spaces to meet up and collaborate with castmates and some quiet places for writing. Plus it also helps that there is always a familiar face in the building!

One of the best parts of the tour was running into old castmates and friends shouting “Congratulations Bob Curry 10!”

Even though The Second City has been like a second home to me for the past year with classes, performances, and rehearsals, I did learn something new on the tour. Specifically about the “Bench” in the Main Stage. I always thought it was just where the understudies sat to watch the show but the history is… and that is also where the celebrities come in to watch. So next time you are watching a Main Stage show peep the bench and keep a look out there because you may see a famous SC Alum!

We also got our student cards. Most excited about all of the student perks and discounts including Jenny’s Ice Cream, Professor Pizza, The Second City, and more!

I am learning a lot about the history of The Second City and its practices. It definitely makes me proud to be a BC Fellow and to be learning from the best folks in the industry.

I hope to make the BIPOC performers and creatives before me proud! Signing off.
